No Aversions to the Persians
So I was checking up on the ol' traffic rankings, and I just realized for the first time that they've got geographical information for the traffic, which is cool because even my server statistics don't do that.
What's more is that they have the rankings by country, too, so I found out that the site ranks about 7 times better in the U.S. than for the world in general. I'd always wondered why our rank was so shitty, and now I know it's because it's including a ton of sites for people in countries that don't speak English. I have no idea what the point is in lumping them all together, as obviously advertisers and the like don't care how much traffic you have in places where they can't sell anything.
But anyway, as I was sitting around in my Iran national football team jersey eating my chelow kabobs and thinking how great countries with large natural gas reserves are, I went through the traffic rankings and found that the country where the site ranks the highest is The Islamic Republic of Iran. By this I don't mean that more of our traffic comes from Iran than from anywhere else, as obviously they're mainly from the U.S. as it is an American site and all. But our share of the traffic is higher in Iran than anywhere else, which was very surprising. I didn't even know the site had any traffic from Iran, so I suppose I'd better take down those "Bring back the Shah" posters. Come to think of it, I should get rid of the "Bring back Batista" ones too in case I find out we have a bunch of Cuban traffic. I suppose those guys have both been dead for decades anyway, but if I were going for accuracy, I'd probably ditch that Christina picture which looks more Arabian than Persian.
In the meantime, I discovered some errors in this file I have to deal with the website data, specifically in the page's traffic. The numbers I give here aren't straight from the server, because the way I designed the site, those numbers are too high. I found out I made some typo or something, though, and the numbers I considered the "real" hits (the smaller number) had been way lower than they should have been. One consequence is that I was wrong before, in that the day the site was Celebrity Site of the Day was the biggest traffic day, not the second biggest. I suppose, though, that even our breast and our brightest make mistakes, like when I was giving the State of the ... the State of the... um, my speech to the nation, whatever you want to call it. What's important is that we have hot, new pictures. The galleries that have been updated since last time are the Eliza Dushku, Tara Reid, Susan Ward, Sofia Vergara, and Pink galleries. So until next time, Iran and... what's the name of that country with all the violent, religious nutcases? Oh, right, America... Until next time, Iran and America...
